Courted LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates Courted, a tennis match scheduling, league management, and social app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using Courted, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or Apple's anonymized relay address if you choose to hide your email). When you sign in with an email address and password, we store your email address. We use this information to create and identify your account.
Profile information. Information you provide voluntarily: display name, NTRP rating, preferred playing level, and any profile photo you upload.
Match and league data. Scores you log, lineup assignments, availability responses, court bookings, match dates and times, and team membership information.
Photos. If you attach a photo to a match result or share one in the activity feed, we store that image on our servers. You can only attach photos from your own device's photo library, which requires your permission.
Location. With your permission, we access your device location while you use the app to find nearby tennis courts and players and to surface nearby open-match broadcasts. We store your city on our servers to display your location to other players and to personalize nearby content. We also store an approximate ("coarse") location derived from your device — rounded to reduce precision (to roughly a one-kilometer area) so we can match you with nearby matches and players by distance. If you do not grant location access, we fall back to the center of the city on your profile. We do not track your location in the background, do not store your exact GPS coordinates, and your stored location is never shown to other users.
Calendar. With your permission, we write upcoming match events to your device calendar. We do not read your existing calendar events.
Notifications. We send push notifications for match-related events (lineup requests, score reminders, chat messages, league activity, and nearby open-match broadcasts). You can disable these in your device settings, or turn off specific categories (including nearby broadcasts) in the app's notification settings, at any time.
Face ID (iOS only). On iOS, you may optionally use Face ID to sign in quickly and securely. We do not store your biometric data — authentication is handled entirely by your device's secure enclave, and we only receive a confirmation that authentication succeeded.
Subscription and payment data. Courted offers paid subscriptions ($4.99/month or $49.99/year) with a 30-day free trial. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we do not store your payment card details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status; RevenueCat receives your purchase history and subscription identifiers to determine your access level.
Diagnostic data. We collect diagnostic information (errors encountered, app state at the time of the error) to improve the app. This information is associated with your account.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account
- To provide match scheduling, league management, and activity feed features
- To show your profile and match history to other players you interact with
- To send push notifications about your matches and league activity
- To find nearby courts and players, and to show you open-match broadcasts near you
- To process and manage your subscription
- To diagnose bugs and improve the app
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:
- Other Courted users. Your name, rating, match results, reactions, comments, and photos you share may be visible to other Courted users through the app's activity feed and your public profile. Scores and lineup entries are visible to players on your team or league.
- Supabase. We use Supabase for database storage and authentication infrastructure. Supabase processes data on our behalf and is bound by appropriate data protection agreements.
- RevenueCat. We use RevenueCat for subscription billing and entitlement management. RevenueCat processes purchase history and subscription identifiers on our behalf.
- Expo. We use Expo for push notification delivery and over-the-air app updates. Expo processes device push tokens on our behalf.
- Google Maps / Places. We use Google Maps and Places APIs for court discovery and location search. Location queries are processed by Google on our behalf.
- Resend. We use Resend for transactional email delivery (e.g., password reset emails). Resend processes your email address on our behalf.
- Apple. Sign In with Apple and in-app purchases are provided by Apple Inc. Apple's privacy policy governs those interactions.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
4. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Match data you have shared with other players (scores, lineup entries) may remain visible in those players' match history.
5. Your Choices and Rights
- Location and camera permissions can be revoked at any time in your device's Settings app.
- Push notifications can be disabled in your device's Settings app.
- Account deletion. You can delete your account directly in the app: go to your Profile tab, tap the settings icon, and select Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and personal data.
- Data access. You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by contacting us.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights, including:
- Right to access the personal data we hold about you
- Right to correct inaccurate personal data
- Right to delete your data (exercisable in-app via Delete Account, or by contacting us)
- Right to restrict or object to certain processing of your data
- Right to data portability — to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format
- California residents: You have the right to know what personal information is sold or disclosed to third parties. We do not sell personal information.

6. Children's Privacy
Courted is not directed to children under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 17. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS) and row-level security on our database. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International Data Transfers
Courted LLC is based in the United States. If you use the app from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and other appropriate safeguards to protect your data in accordance with applicable law.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email. For material changes to how we process your personal data, we may ask for your explicit consent. For minor changes, continued use of the app after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
